Terms of Service

Please read and agree to the following terms of service before requesting a commission.

NB: the following refers to private commissions only. For all commercial projects, please email me at deviantartametat@gmail.com for a one-on-one discussion. If you can, please include an outline of your project, your budget, and if full image rights are required.

As a commissioner, you may
  • Repost the artwork on any of your social media, as long as you provide credit in the description to me.
  • Edit and crop the image, use it as an avatar, banner, wallpaper, etc
  • Print the artwork for personal use only 
As a commissioner, you may not
  • Use the artwork for commercial purposes (eg sell prints of) without my explicit permission. You must purchase full image rights from me, which are priced individually.
  • Claim you drew the artwork
  • Create NFT of my artwork, nor feed any of my works into an AI Image Generator.
As an artist, I may
  • Sell the artwork as a print, and/or any merchandise 
  • Post the artwork publicly, and use it in any advertising material required to promote my services
Commission Process

At each stage below, I will check in on the client and provide work-in-progress images for approval.

  1. The client sends a description of their commission and any helpful reference materials
  2. I provide a range of quotes
  3. The client and I agree on a commission description, price, payment plan (if required) and deadline (if required)
  4. I provide an initial sketch or thumbnail
  5. Once agreed upon, I request full payment via Paypal invoice, unless a payment plan has been previously agreed
  6. I continue refining the sketch, where the client may request free changes of any size, until all the design elements are worked out.
  7. Once agreed between me and the client, I begin lineart. Changes requested at this point onwards may or may not include a surcharge, based upon complexity.
  8. I add flat colours
  9. I add shading
  10. I add lighting
  11. I add material rendering
  12. I perform colour correction and general refinement
  13. I perform final checks
  14. The client receives a full resolution png, and a PSD upon request.

The Client = You, The Commissioner

  1. By ordering a commission, you agree to the terms of service.
  2. By ordering a commission, you declare you are 18+ years old.
  3. I reserve the right to change my terms of service at any time. You are bound to the terms of service from the day the first payment is sent.
  4. I reserve the right to refuse or resign from a commission at any point during the process, without providing a reason. 
    1. Up to and including the sketch stage, you will receive a full refund upon cancellation
    2. At any point beyond the sketch stage, you will receive the WIP file and a refund proportional to how many hours I have worked on the commission, against the previously agreed-upon price of your commission.
    3. Refunded money will be returned to you via Paypal.
    4. If the client resigns from a commission after work has begun, I will keep any money proportional to the amount of time already spent on the commission.
    5. I do not refund finished commissions, tips, or donations.
  5. ​​​​​​​If you wish for your commission to be kept private, eg not posted on social media, nor sold as merchandise, a ​​​​​​​surcharge may be incurred. The terms of this and any charges therein will be agreed upon between me and the client, before the commission has begun. 
  6. If you wish to remain anonymous - eg no name or username is listed when I post the piece on social media or use the piece in any way, you must inform me of this before the commission is finished. Remaining anonymous will not incur a surcharge
  7. Edits to the artwork throughout and beyond the commission process:
    1. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Up to and including the sketch/thumbnail phase, the client may request changes of any size for free.
    2. At lineart stage and beyond, a surcharge may be incurred to enact changes requested by the client. Number of changes allowed and the price of which are set individually, and are at my discretion.
    3. Requesting edits after the completion of the artwork (eg the client has approved and received the full-resolution images), may be allowed at my discretion. A surcharge will be incurred, and priced individually based upon the complexity of the request.
  8. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Any deadline of commission completion must be previously agreed upon between me and the client. I reserve the right to refuse a deadline date.
  9. I retain the full rights of any commissioned artwork, including the right to sell merchandise featuring it, and the right to use and edit the commission to promote my services.
  10. The client may request the purchase of image rights, the price of which is set individually. 
  11. Any preliminary visual work, including sketches and thumbnails, that has been rejected by the client, remains the property of the artist and may be used in the future.
  12. The full resolution file provided to the client upon commission completion may only be for private useage. The client may print the artwork for private use, but cannot use the commission in any way commercially, unless previously agreed upon with the artist, and full image rights have been purchased. 
  13. The finished file with watermark may be posted online by the client in their gallery, cropped for icons, banners etc. The client must also credit the artist in the description.
  14. The client is not allowed to claim that they have drawn the commission
  15. The client is not allowed to create NFT of my artwork, nor feed any of my works into an AI Image Generator
  16. By sending me the payment client automatically states, that they have read, understood, and agreed to the presented Terms of Service
